The Amelia County Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for new people to join our ranks!

 

If you are interested in joining, please fill out the applications mentioned below and come by any of our fire stations.  Companies 1 & 3 meeting nights are the first Monday of the month at 7 pm, and Companies 2, 4, & 5 are the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.

Regular Membership

If you are 18 or older, you would be considered a senior firefighter.  Senior membership requires the completion of a ACVFD Membership Application, as well as a criminal background check and DMV driving record.  

If you are between the ages of 16 and 18, you would be considered a junior firefighter.  All junior firefighters must have parent or guardian permission to join.    Junior firefighters must complete a ACVFD Membership Application, as well as a Parent/Guardian Consent Form

If you have previous experience, please include copies of all certifications along with your application.

All new personnel with no prior firefighting experience will be expected to take a Firefighter 1 or EMT course within one year of membership. All fire protection equipment and training will be provided to you by the fire department at no charge.

Administrative and Associate Membership

If you are not interested in active firefighting or EMS duties, and you are age 14 or older, Administrative and Associate memberships are established to assist with fundraisers, paperwork, and any other duties which may not require any special training or time requirements. They may assist in any firehouse duties, including entering reports into the computers, planning and facilitating firehouse activities, and general maintenance. Their duties will be at the discretion of the company chief. They will be designated as non-voting department members and will not be allowed to participate in any nominating or policy making procedures. All applicants must adhere to the same application process, background check, and company approval as regular members.
