Companies 1 and 3, along with Amelia Emergency Squad, Amelia Sheriff's Office, VA State Police, VSP Medflight staged a mock crash scene in the High School parking lot for safe driving awareness prior to this weekends prom. The scenario was a two vehicle crash with at least two DOA ejections and three patients. Great job to all for their efforts to raise awareness of Prom Night/Teen Drinking/Driving Safety.

At 0718 AM, Amelia dispatched Companies 1, 4, 3, & 5 to a house on Grubb Hill Church Rd. for a report of a Structure Fire. Within minutes, a deputy who was nearby advised that he was on scene, and that the home was "pretty well involved". Units arrived on scene to find a two story, wood frame, well off in the Alpha-Bravo, as well as Charlie side with an exposure on the Bravo. On January 6th, 2016 companies 1, 3, 4 and Amelia Emergency Squad Medic 4 were paged for a possible structure fire on Patrick Henry Hwy.. Before marking enroute dispatch notified all companies sprinklers were actively going off but no signs of smoke or fire had been found. Upon arrival and after investigation it was found that one of the water lines had busted causing the sprinklers and alarms to activate. All units cleared moments later. At 1702 hrs, Amelia ECC struck tones for companies 2 and 1 for a report of an outside fire on Rocky Run Ln. Tanker 2 was first to respond with Chief 20 aboard. Chief 20 marked on scene with a acre and a half fast moving fire and a fully engulfed abandoned house. He requested the forestry dozer and additional tankers. At 1311 hrs, Amelia ECC dispatched Companies 1, 2, & 4 to Pine Lane for a report of a fire in a field. Shortly after, Company 3 was also added to the call. Brush 1 and 3, Tanker 3 and 4, EM1, Forestry 150, and the Forestry Dozer all responded to find a 1 acre sized fire in a field that was headed toward a structure. Crews remained on scene for about an hour and a half.
At 1238 hrs, Amelia ECC paged Company 1 for and overturned vehicle at Amelia Ave. and 360. Rescue 1 and Engine 1 responded, and found that the vehicle had not overturned, and the PT was already being treated by Amelia Emergency Squad. The vehicle was checked for hazards, finding none, both units cleared in short order.
At 2018 hrs, Amelia ECC paged Company 1 to Goodes Bridge Rd. near the water tower for an overturned MVA with injuries. Rescue 1 and Engine 1 responded to the scene to find a minivan, resting on its side, occupants already out of the vehicle. The vehicle had taken out the bottom half of a utility pole, but the power lines were still intact. Rescue 1 crew assisted Amelia Emergency Squad with PT care. At 1950 hrs, Captain 12 radioed to Amelia ECC that he had driven up on a single vehicle MVA on Dennisville Rd. He advised one PT in the vehicle, unresponsive. Amelia then toned Companies 1 and 3 as well as Amelia Emergency Squad on the call. Fire EMTs tended to the patient until AES arrived and transported the PT.
Dry and windy conditions kept the volunteers somewhat busy today.At 1215 hrs, dispatch toned Companies 1 and 3 for a fire in the median on 360 @ Maws Rd. (@ Busters). At 0238 hrs, Amelia ECC disturbed the night dropping tones for Company 1, 3, and 5 for a report of a structure fire. Crews responded to find a large shed or barn that was fully involved. At 1136 hrs, Amelia Companies 1 and 3 were called to respond for an alarm at the Econolodge. Dispatch had reported it was possibly caused by microwave overheating. Crews found that the fire was out upon arrival but due to smoke in building, ventilation fans were used to clear the building of smoke. Units were on scene about 40 minutes. Engine 1, Engine 3 and EM-1 responded.
At around 1450, Amelia ECC paged Companies 1 and 3 for a report of an outside fire. EM-1 and Lt. 13 responded to a small fire caused by tree limbs across a power line. Units stood by for about 30 minutes for the power company to remove hazards. Units that responded were Brush 1 with 2, Tanker 1 with 2, EM-1 and Forestry.
The Volunteers responded to a couple of calls as the snow started coming down: At 1627 hrs, Companies 1 and 4 were paged to the intersection of 360 WB and 153 for a report of a MVA. At 1702 hrs, Amelia ECC once again dropped the tones for Company 1 & 3 for a report of a brush fire on 360 WB at B&N Grill, at 1707 hrs, Company 4 was added to the call and dispatched advised there were multiple brush fires from B&N to Winterham Rd. It was found that there were 8-10 1/10th acre fires off the right side of the westbound lanes. At 1359 hrs, Amelia ECC toned out Companies 5, 3, and 1 to a report of an outside fire on Bent Creek Rd. EM-1 marked on with "a couple acres burning", crews made quick work of the fire that burned a field of dry grass and a some slow moving fire in the woodline. The fire had burned all the way up to the front and rear of the house, but no damage occurred to the residence. Units that responded: B1 with 2, T1 with 2, E1 with 1, T4 with 1, EM-1.
