| 9 Year old girl went missing - Manpower called in from Companys 1,3 & 4 |
Wed. Jun 9th 2010
At 12:41 today, Amelia communications
dispatched company's 1,3 & 4 to Winterham Rd. near Rt.360 for a 9 year old girl that went missing from her home. Sheriff Walker ( Incident commander) requested the Fire Department for a possible ground search if the blood hound failed to find the female, all Fire Department personnel staged down the street from the house. No one was allowed in the woods or anywhere near the area to be searched until the dog got there. At 13:30 two officers and a dog got on scene from the Department of Corrections and got started looking the 9 year old. The dog did not take long and took the handler straight to the girl ( at 13:53) who was dehydrated and possibly had been stung by bee's. Firefighters and the paid crew from the Emergency Squad carried the girl from the woods and she was transported to Chippenham Hospital by the Squad. Everybody did a great job working together on the scene, and for a Wednesday during the day, the fire dept. turned out 21 personnel for this call.
